In some locations the phone might not be able to get good GPS readings. If you are riding in an indoor arena the roof might be too thick and block these signals.
Check your signal strength by starting the app and, if you have less than two bars, the position tracking will unfortunately be poor.
You can still use equilab, but distance, velocity and stride will become less accurate. If it is not tracked at all it is probably due to that you did not permit the app to use the GPS.

When you don't get any gait at all on a training it is most often the accelerometer or gyroscope in the phone that is not working properly.

Equilab utilises the accelerometer and the gyroscope in your device and on some models the manufacturer have saved costs by cutting the quality of these.
This results in more uneven reporting and an overall lower quality. If this is the case for your device can most easily be checked by testing another device and compare the quality.
Turns are among other things dependent on the GPS signal as this is one of the primary data points required to calculate them.
You can see the GPS quality both during your ride in the bottom left corner and after a training on the map.
If you have exercised in an area with poor GPS strength, the turn measurement will therefore have less accuracy as well. It is the gyroscope sensor that is missing in your phone.
These exist in almost every modern phone but there is some exceptions. The app work without this sensor as well but the quality of the readings is often a little bit lower.
